THE OLIVE SERIES | ORIT BEN-EZZER

The Olive Series is an ongoing personal project that started in 2010, exploring the life cycle of the Olive from blossom to harvest as a

circadian metronome. All pieces were photographed in the Upper Galilee, Israel, between 2010 and 2021.

“I never knew my connection to the land was so strong until I tried to take my roots out of the fertile soil of the Galilee and stick them in the wetlands of Florida. This is an immigration struggle stronger than any culture shock. It’s a physical, circadian adaptation, almost like trying to plant an olive tree in the wetlands.”
